Pyramid crappie

Went to the old park Saturday and caught 56. Although not all were keepers they shure did fight well. We caught them in brush in about 10 feet of water. Also caught some up in 4 feet of water spawning. We used tube jigs that were pink and clear with metallic flakes. Also seen a couple of big bass up in about 2 feet of water making beds. One was real nice, about 8 pounds. I think I'm gona make a return trip for that one. I say they are a week away from spawning in the strip cuts. On another note, the catfish are moving up in preparation for the spawn. Hearing good reports of the cats moving up into the rocks at rend. Also the blue gills are ready to make beds. With the gills at the Duquoin city lake up in the lillypads making them and the ones at SIU campus lake making them as well, the next week or two they will be spawning. So in closing get out and catch some fish, it is getting good. And by the way take a kid fishing, they will remember it for a lifetime. Until next time stay safe, have fun and keep the hook in the lips.
